Kyle is the CEO of iFixit, the free repair manual. He’s dedicated his life to defeating the second law of thermodynamics, a battle fought in the courtroom as often as in the workshop.

This talk is about Right to Repair, which now has support from the Biden administration and the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), and progress is being made in Europe, Australia, and Canada.

In 1992, Torvalds freed the kernel Linux, which filled the last gap in GNU. Since then, the combined GNU/Linux system has run in millions of computers. Nowadays you can buy a new computer with a totally free GNU/Linux system preinstalled.
